Jennifer Nelson-Seals, MSHRM
Chief Executive Officer

Mrs. Nelson-Seals is the Chief Executive Officer of The Boulevard. She holds a Masters of Arts in Human Resource Management from Roosevelt University and a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Robert Morris College. She has served The Boulevard in various capacities since its' founding as Interfaith House in 1994.

Veronica Savarese Buckley, EdD

Board President

Veronica is a Core Visiting Faculty member and Academic Advisor at DePaul University’s School for New Learning, and Visiting Faculty at National Louis University’s Masters in Adult Education program. She holds a Master’s Degree and a Doctorate in Adult and Continuing Education from National-Louis University. 

Joanna Arras 

Board Vice President and Treasurer

Joanna is an investor on Baird Capital’s Venture Capital team, focusing on technology and services investments. She earned a BS in Management and International Business from Indiana University and holds an MBA from The University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School with majors in Finance and Entrepreneurship.

Candace Hansford, Esq.

Board Secretary

Candace founded her own law practice, Hansford Legal, in 2014. She works with small businesses, individuals and families on a wide variety of civil and financial cases. Ms. Hansford has an MBA from Valparaiso University and a JD from Kent College of Law. She also works with Chicago Volunteer Legal Services.

Joni Andrioff, Esq. 

Joni is a partner at the law firm of Steptoe & Johnson, LLP. She advises corporate, tax-exempt, and institutional fiduciary clients, and is an active participant in American Bar Association conferences. Ms. Andrioff has a J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law. 

Cynthia Barnard

Cynthia Barnard has three decades of experience in the fields of quality improvement, patient safety, medical staff affairs, clinical research, developing healthcare information systems for operational support, and strategic planning. Currently, she is a Vice President at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where her responsibilities include patient safety, accreditation and regulatory compliance, medical ethics, and patient satisfaction measurement for the hospital. 

Steve Gerschoffer

Steve is a Principal for Crowe Horwath, LLP, specializing in Technology Risk consulting. Steve holds a B.S. in both Computer Information Systems and Accounting from Ferris State University. He currently serves on the Board Membership and Development Committees.

Trey Gonzales

Trey is a Sales Associate for Paul Ferrante and an Independent Consultant with Arbonne International. Trey holds a B.A. in Public Relations from the University of Oklahoma.

Janet Guptill

Janet is the Executive Director of The Scottsdale Institute (, a non-profit national collaborative of leading health systems committed to sharing best practices and collaborating on IT-enabled performance improvement.  She is a senior healthcare strategist with a Masters of Health Systems Management from Tulane University of Louisiana, who enjoys introducing transformative solutions into the healthcare industry.     

Nancy Hanson 

Nancy was one of the founders of The Boulevard. She served on the original steering committee and the first Board of Directors; Chairing the Board of Directors from 1998-2002 and completing her Board term in 2004. She received a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Illinois-Chicago and holds undergraduate degrees from the University of Iowa and the University of Charleston (W. VA). 

Stanley Hill 

Stanley is a Senior Account Manager at Infor Enterprise Software Solutions, with more than 10 years of enterprise-class technology sales experience. He holds a BA in Economics from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. 

Tim Hogan

Tim is a creative director at Ogilvy & Mather, Chicago. He grew up in the Chicago area and has a BFA in Graphic Design from the University of Illinois. His work has been recognized for numerous awards. In addition to his design practice, Mr. Hogan is a board member of EPIC, a non-profit organization of creatives who donate their time to help non-profit organizations developing in Chicago.

Stan Jaworski

Stan is a Director of Health Advisory Practice at Pricewaterhouse Coopers Advisory LLC. He holds an M.B.A. in Health Care Finance from Northeastern University, Boston, and a B.A. in Biology and Economics from Knox College.

Paul Luning MD, MPH 

Paul is the Chief Medical Officer of  PCC Community Wellness Center, a community health center serving the West Side of Chicago. A graduate of Yale University and the University of Chicago, Dr. Luning is a practicing family physician; he helped start The Boulevard Clinic for the Homeless in 1999. He serves as the Associate Program Director for the West Suburban Family Medicine Residency Program.

Brian Saperstein

Brian is a Vice President at the Sammons Financial Group (SFG), a provider of life insurance and annuities throughout the United States. Brian received his MBA, with honors, from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and his undergrad degree from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Michael Shapiro

Michael is the Founder and President of Gibraltar Corp., a manufacturer’s representative firm specializing in sales and service of machine tools. He holds a B.S. in Finance from the Martin J. Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University. Shapiro is a running enthusiast and regular participant in Chicago area marathons.

Jeremy Stump

Jeremy is a Vice President at Merit Capital Partners, a leading private equity investment firm based in Chicago. Jeremy earned his B.S. in Finance from Butler University and received an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

Kevin Thrash

Kevin is a voice-over talent with a background in travel and customer service. He recovered his health and independence as a resident of The Boulevard, and as such is an integral part of our Board of Directors, representing our consumers, their needs and their feedback. 

Evan Trent

Evan is Vice President of Strategy & Corporate Development at Heidrick & Struggles, a global, publicly traded, leader in executive search, leadership consulting, culture shaping, and talent advisory firm.  He holds a MBA (Finance, Marketing) from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business, with a BA (History), also from The University of Chicago.
