Challenge Accepted! Anonymous Donor to Match Up to $50,000 in New Gifts

(September 17th, 2019) We recently received some very exciting news! At the end of August, an anonymous donor came forward to offer a matching challenge grant of up to $50,000 for The Boulevard of Chicago. That means that when you donate now, a contribution of equal value comes from a secret source and effectively doubles the impact of your giving. Matching will continue cumulatively up to $50,000 of donations made by new or lapsed donors OR increased annual gifts from our community of current donors over the next two years.

Here Is The Fine Print…

If we can raise the first half of this amount by August 25th, 2020, your contribution will be matched dollar for dollar AND the second half of the opportunity will unlock for the next year, giving us an additional goal of $25,000 to shoot for. (The second target’s time frame begins on August 26th, 2020 and ends on August 25th, 2021.)

Support now and your contribution will be doubled!

We believe, and our anonymous supporter agrees, that the work provided by The Boulevard is critical and in ever-increasing demand. We provide a life-saving direct link between stable health and stable housing, but unless we can expand The Boulevard’s pipeline of supporters, we will be unable to expand the scope of our services. This challenge grant is a fantastic way to inspire and motivate everyone who cares about our work to reach out and invite new friends and allies to support our mission. It also challenges our current donors to dig a little deeper, with the understanding that each dollar is matched. In either case, we are greatly appreciative of this opportunity, and…WE NEED YOUR HELP!

We urge you to contribute what you can before August 25th to meet the first target for our supporter’s matching challenge grant. Thank you for being a part of our efforts, and our future.

Historic night for The Boulevard of Chicago at our 2019 Gala!

(June 10th, 2019) On Friday, May 31st, the Harold Washington Library’s Winter Garden was the stage for an unforgettable evening for founders, leaders, friends and supporters of The Boulevard of Chicago. Our 2019 Annual Gala, which was also the 25th Anniversary for our organization, celebrated our past while raising expectations for exciting developments and growth in the future. The event raised nearly $300,000.00, far surpassing the totals for any previous event, thanks in large part to Presenting Sponsors Sammons Financial Group, Ms. Merry Ann Pearson, and The Joseph and Bessie Feinberg Foundation.

Party goers were greeted by a huge and welcome surprise, however, with the announcement that the Gala Honoree and dedicated Boulevard supporters Richard and Crystal Logan of the Reva & David Logan Foundation would match the night’s Paddle Raise. This incredible gesture added nearly $69,000.00 to the evening’s total, setting a historic benchmark for the Gala and further cementing the Logan family’s well earned reputation as leaders in the Chicago philanthropic community.

The evening ran nearly flawlessly, as 300 guests enjoyed reconnecting with old friends while making new acquaintances. Leaders from the early years of the Boulevard were saluted, including Paul Allen, Art Bendixon, Thomas Hurwich, Nancy Hanson and Jacob Starks, and current CEO Jennifer Nelson-Seals was acknowledged for her 25 years of service to the agency.

Every year, The Boulevard produces a video to remind Gala attendees of the reason we are coming together: to support the brave and difficult work being done by our residents as they heal from injuries and illnesses that not only affect them physically, but mentally, emotionally, and psychologically. This year’s video received many compliments, so we share it here. Please feel free to share this inspiring message on Social Media!

SURPRISE! LOGAN FOUNDATION MAKES AMAZING MATCHING GIFT OF 69K AT GALA

Crystal Logan (pictured here) and the other leaders of the Reva & David Logan Foundation made a great evening even more unforgettable. Having arrived to share in the evening’s celebration and receive the 2019 Community Spirit Award, the Logan family informed The Boulevard that they would match whatever was raised during the Paddle Raise at the event. Inspired by this incredible generosity, the raucous crowd broke past Paddle Raise records by pledging a staggering $68,976.00. Board Chair Jeremy Stump (right) warmly thanked Crystal from the stage, expressing the deep gratitude and appreciation that all in the room were surely feeling.
